Hi,

I'm sure the answer to this question is on here somewhere, but for the life of me I couldn't find it.
That being said, I've heard/read somewhere about a drill bit that attaches to a power drill so you don't have to hand crank the stabilizer jacks?
Can someone tell me
A - is it something I can just buy at a hardware store
2 - do you have to have a special drill for it
C - how well does it work and is it worth having?

Thanks in advance for your help/info!

~ Karla

A) Well, it depends on what kind of jacks you have. If you have the BAL ones with the funky slotted end, you can get another hand crank and cut the head off (be sure to leave enough stem to fit into the drill chuck) to create a bit. If you have just a basic stabalizer jack, you can use the right size socket with an adapter bit for the drill (your friendly neighborhood hardware store has those).

B) I just use my cordless drill. Keep in mind you will still need the hand crank to tight it down, the drill probably won't have the juice.

C) Great and yes, especially if you are going cross country and need to do it a lot.

Oh contrair, I have the 18 volt Dewalt cordless drill and if I don't let off the trigger it will raise the TT. But I agree, the cordless is much easier than hand cranking the stabs down. And by the way, it is not a drill bit, it is a socket.

Seriously though, I would definitely get a cordless drill with the socket for raising and lowering the stabs, saves much time and energy.

I cut the end of the original hand crank off of mine and chuck it up in the cordless 19.2 volt and let 'er rip. With the power tongue jack life is good.

I did the same thing, I cut the head off leaving about six inches of rod left, tight 'er into the chuck on the 18v cordless and whammo...done deal. Oh yeah...mental....make sure your battery is good shape before you leave....yes, learned the hard way on that.

Hello-

I like the socket/drill combo vs. hand cranking the jacks down.

I bought the Socket Jenie:
