Lee: Try to look at it from the perspective of the RV park owner. If he can sell park models to a number of people, he has guaranteed income for future development or maintenance costs. He has also put his park squarely in the sites of the consortium buyers who like to see about 40% of sites occupied with either park models or tenants committed to yearly rates. I believe owning and operating an RV park is a business that can be very competitive and with the price of fuel likely to provide some uncertainty to the industry I can certainly see why an owner would want to hedge his bets. Like all things, RV'ing is changing and perhaps we wont like the changes but planning ahead will mitigate some of the negatives. Finding a place like Retama is going to get more difficult in future but there will likely be other options for the person who likes to move occasionaly.

We travel all the time but we have a lot in FL if we need it. This year we have a rally in TN in the fall so we will take the MH to FL, leave it, drive back for the holidays, back to FL for the MH, stay awhile then maybe the valley in March. No I don't have reservations. Last year we didn't make reservations for Fort Pierce until November and there were sites available at Treasure Coast and others. I'm surprised you couldn't find res anywhere. Generally anywhere above Orlando in FL has sites open.
