We'll be visiting Glacier National Park in August.

Does anyone have any first hand experience if sites in Flathead State Park and around Hungry Horse Reservoir are large enough for a 38' motorhome?

I would like info from those that have been there, done that.

Thanks.

I've BEEN there but not DONE THAT. Too much good camping inside Glacier at Ap Gar. I believe that Flathead has a 30 foot combined vehicle length limit but I'm not certain but sites did look pretty small.

I have been back in there about 3 miles or so from the reservoir, but I would think you might have some trouble taking that big a rig in there. I did not see anything you could pull into for that size rig.

If you're up to it, could head up to Spotted Bear at the head of the Reservoir. Great Forest Service Campground up there, with sites that will accomodate you.

Problem is access is via 45+ miles of loggin road(s) and takes about two hours to traverse.

If you're interested, check at the Forest Service office in Hungry Horse and they can tell you which road is best.

Might note that there's quite a bit of dispersed camping allowed along the reservoir also. FS can help with that also.

Ya, you won`t want to go to the Hungry Horse res. with a 38ft. MH! I was there visiting my cousin in Kalispell and we went there for the day. I think it would be tite with a 25 ftr.! don`t know about flathead SP. I can tell you every inch of MT that we seen was beautiful!

Good luck and happy camping!
