Simple question... If I'm bringing a sign to post at Watson Lake in the signpost forest, do they already have posts, I presune wooden so as to accept screws or nails, in the ground and I just try to find space to hang a new sign??? Just wondering about "sign etiquette"... Thanks! ST

The posts are already there - they keep putting up new ones towards the rear for all the travelers. You can put the sign anywhere you want to without removing signs that others have placed there. My sign is a flattened wood burning stove pipe we found during our adventures with plastic lettering. Any way, it is different.

Provide the sign, the information booth will provide hammers, nails screws etc.
I hope to get back someday to see the sign that we posted in 2001.

I did not get to stay long enough to peruse all the signs because of skeeters. So apply the deet liberally before going sign posting.

Strange you should mention that.
Watson Lake was the only place on our Alaska trip that the skeeters were a problem

Yes skeeters are lethal at the sign post forest so be sure to use repellent before browsing the signs. Becky

Yep, and if you are diligent and brave you can even find one of the two ladders left out in the "forest."

Check at the information office and they will tell you where the recent posts have been installed. Then all you need are your sigh and screws, etc. They will help you with these if you don't have your own. At least that is what we did in 2005 on our last trip.

We stayed at the c.g. across from the Sign Post Forest on 2 separate occasions last year. Mosquitos were not a problem either time. Guess we lucked out.
