I just received an email forwarded to me an article that Dirty Al's had caught fire a couple of days ago. Seemed to have started in the attic, bad wiring......however, it appears to have remained pretty much ok.....just the roof and ceilining

SURE hope they get it repaired before we all arrive back down there!!!!!

Who exactly is this "Dirty Al" and why is attic fire news worthy?

Actual picture of dirty Al's just moments before the fire!

Because it is the best seafood restaurant on South Padre Island and a favorite of thousands of Winter Texans, Spring Breakers & Summer tourists.

There are mighty few Texas snowbirds that don't know of Dirty Al's

I seriously doubt if there are very many Winter Texans who spend the winter in the RGV that have not heard of Dirty Al's!! Their seafood....and especially their shrimp cannot be beat for freshness and quality. I cannot wait until we get back to the RGV just so we can eat there again.....hopefully!

OH...by the way, their "bar" is used to lean on as you wait and wait and wait to get a table for lunch or dinner!

I'll tell you why. In 1953 our family ate "fresh" fish from Fisherman's Wharf in SF Ca and ended up violently ill. Since then I have not eaten any fish other then a tuna sand once in a great while. When we went to DAs in Jan, the Fish & Chips looked so good I tried some and went back a few more times. It's one of those YOU HAD TO BE THERE TO ENJOY IT things.

John,

Thanks for that information. Count us in on Dirty Al's Fans!
We love that place. Last Winter we took new Winter Texans there who had never had Oysters on the Half Shell. They all ate them and loved them.

I do not understand why people want to frequent a forum then question the conversation.

We are not reading from a script here.

Love the sign he has posted - something like
"This ain't Burger King. You can't have it your way. You'll have it my way or not at all!"

Great place for lunch, dinner, conversation, cold beer, whatever....

Sure hope it opens for fall, if not before. One of the few places on SPI that I feel you get what you pay for.

Dave
