I'm going nuts - we have a 2 year old and CANNOT find a darn rain coat his size. He's just getting into a 2T Any suggestions as to where to look?! I've hit Walmart, Target, Department Stores - even Cabala's. OK, Cabala's had one but for over $40 - that's nuts. Youth small is to big - I'm willing to buy a jacket that's larger on him - but he also has to be able to play without tripping. I'm at the point that I'm ready to just cut a whole in a garbage bag and call it a day.
Any suggestions would be great!!

Amazon has a Thomas the Train Toddler Raincoat for $12.99 plus shipping.
You do know that if you find and purchase one, it won't rain?!

Resale shops? We have stores here called "Once Upon a child", and I always had luck finding rain coats for the kids there, usually for under $10, good condition, slightly used, which I didn't mind...

I bought my DGD one on e-bay. If it wasn't so girly, I would send it to you.
If nothing else, they do make the plastic rain ponchos in kids size, we just cut the bottom off to make them fit. For a buck, you can use it on one trip and throw it away.
I keep several in the RV. Takes up less space then rain coats, that you may or may not need.

I always keep several of those plastic rain ponchos in both of my vehicles. I have cut the off for little ones, but I have also used one on a stroller while at the zoo. It was clear and I just spread the entire thing around the stroller, put the hood part behind the seat. It was perfect. They are really flimsy, so they usually don't last more than one trip, but....they are cheap. Not real "green", but useful.

Paddle, is there a Mills Fleet Farm near you? They usually have a nice line of rain gear for little ones around this time of year. Another thought is to go back to Target and either ask an associate or check around the young boys clothing section- not the baby/toddler section. I know that in the young girls clothing section there is a row of umbrellas and the lighter weight raincoats, so I would think there would be the same in the young boys area.
Another thought is calling around to Goodwill/Salvation Army type thrift stores. Or even eBay. If you expand your search to include size 3T you might be able to roll up the arms & use it longer.

Best one I found is MoleHill Mountain: http://www.molehillmtn.com/
We have a set of twins and need good rain-suits (jacket & pant) for a Thanksgiving fishing trip. These are a great set. We bought them 2T, and they are big enough we are on 3rd season for them! Plus, they have a built-in pocket in the jacket so you can fold the entire set-up and it takes up little amount of space .. and they have a "belly strap" so once you fold them up, they twins can wear them around themselves like a belly pack. We couldn't be happier with them ... and they will be getting new ones once they outgrow these.
