The best thing to do is get involved and remind our friends and fellow riders to help preserve the privileges allotted to us by respecting the land and not litter.
that is what i read all the time, but on the last few trips to Oceano, i went around with a petition to force the county of SLO to sell the land to the state.
about 2/3 were not aware of the dire situation, and probably not given a thought to it since i talked to them
That's wright Richard Cheese. Mfg's are forced to donate; I consider it modern day extortion. Otherwise, the SC would pressure them more than they already do, . . . from all angles.
I agree, they have done "some" good and their original ideas and mentality were honorable. However, just like the freaking left-wing, pot smoking, liberal ACLU, they were taken over by the far left, mentality incompetent wing nuts.
Where ever I ride, I abide by the "closed" signs, but if this keeps up, f*ck them and I'll just keep riding past them. Sometimes, a little civil disobedience is needed to get the message out.
The ACLU does not exist to solely protect individual rights. They pick and choose which rights and for whom they want to defend. They have never stood up for the Second Amendment. Last I checked that is still a right under the Bill of Rights. In fact they have come out publicly as being AGAINST the 2'nd.
Far as for me, ALL of the rights have equal weight. Since ACLU seems to think some are more important than others they are a joke to me and a lot of others.
I'm a guy that truly loves my guns and firmly believe in the "from my cold dead hands" thingy so I do have an iron in this fire ... that being said they do make a good point ...
BACKGROUND
The ACLU has often been criticized for "ignoring the Second Amendment" and refusing to fight for the individual's right to own a gun or other weapons. This issue, however, has not been ignored by the ACLU. The national board has in fact debated and discussed the civil liberties aspects of the Second Amendment many times.
We believe that the constitutional right to bear arms is primarily a collective one, intended mainly to protect the right of the states to maintain militias to assure their own freedom and security against the central government. In today's world, that idea is somewhat anachronistic and in any case would require weapons much more powerful than handguns or hunting rifles. The ACLU therefore believes that the Second Amendment does not confer an unlimited right upon individuals to own guns or other weapons nor does it prohibit reasonable regulation of gun ownership, such as licensing and registration.
IN BRIEF
The national ACLU is neutral on the issue of gun control. We believe that the Constitution contains no barriers to reasonable regulations of gun ownership. If we can license and register cars, we can license and register guns.
Most opponents of gun control concede that the Second Amendment certainly does not guarantee an individual's right to own bazookas, missiles or nuclear warheads. Yet these, like rifles, pistols and even submachine guns, are arms.
The question therefore is not whether to restrict arms ownership, but how much to restrict it. If that is a question left open by the Constitution, then it is a question for Congress to decide.
ACLU POLICY
"The ACLU agrees with the Supreme Court's long-standing interpretation of the Second Amendment "as set forth in the 1939 case, U.S. v. Miller" that the individual's right to bear arms applies only to the preservation or efficiency of a well-regulated militia. Except for lawful police and military purposes, the possession of weapons by individuals is not constitutionally protected. Therefore, there is no constitutional impediment to the regulation of firearms." — Policy #47
Wow! I can't beleive that you posted this this and like guns...did you really read what this is saying! This is the same thing that most gun grabbers are saying. First comes the registration, then comes the list of can't haves, then comes all out ban, just look at Britain and Australia. I really don't see why they are worried about myself and millions or other LAWABIDING citizens, how about taking care of the criminals!!!

Ok guys this thread has gone purely political now and when we start talking guns we know we're off topic. Let's close this one down and talk about what this forum is about, Toy Haulers, our Toys and Camping.
