We are researching to death which RV to purchase. We are two middle aged adults, no kids, but two dogs, 110# mastiff/boxer & 55# shepherd/rottie and we want to get away for weekends and vacations.

I have owned truck camper RV's before and lived in a Terry 5th wheel for a while in a campground while my home was being built, however it has been 20 plus years since I've owned and RV and LOTS has changed.

We have a 2008 GMC 1500 pu truck to pull with. We have looked at all brands, and like KZ and Jayco, but the Jayco appears heavier.

Our dilema I am seeking input on is how do we determine if we should go with a travel trailer or a toy hauler? We have a Honda Gold Wing and a Honda Wave Runner we could utilize in the toy hauler but I personally like the inside of the tt better?

Where can I find info on these questions on this forum?

Oh one last thing, we live in Central Florida so we are looking to travel within the state and up to the mountains where we would love to retire in 10 years or so.

Thanks in advance, Susan

As far a Jayco, go to www.jayco.com and look at the travel trailer and toy hauler floor plans. Hope this helps somewhat.

I don't see any question?
Lots of opinions here, but you need to ask a clear question. IMO try another post.

You are going to have to go with a very small toy hauler to pull it with a 1500. Check out all your weight involved. I don't think you are going to pull the Honda's with your truck without going way over any and all weights. But check them out. Once you get your weights nailed, go to all the major manufacturer's web sites and start looking at what fits your needs.

Hi Susan: We are also middle aged adults who travel with our two babies (dogs). We went back and forth about TT vs toy hauler since we have ATVs. We travel to Ocala National Forest to ride about once every other month and always stayed in a cabin. Well, we bought a TT and decided to separate camping vs ATV riding. Here's why (for us as ATVers): Unless you are camping where you will be unloading your toys, you will have to disconnect your sewer, water, electric to drive to the trailhead or wherever to drop off your toys. You will then be leaving your "home" with all of your belongings in a parking lot all day where people know you are gone all day. I also did not like the idea of having all of our ATV stuff (extra gas, tools, etc.) in my "kitchen". There are fumes, mud etc. after riding and you have to haul them back to the campground. Finally, you give up a lot of comfortable living space going from a TT to a toy hauler. Toy haulers usually have much smaller kitchens, couches, etc and are quite heavier to pull. These are just a few things you might want to consider. See you out and about in Florida.

we have a sunset creek srd 341 TT thats a toy hauler. its got the set up of a large tt with a back garage area. Sadly your truck wont pull the TT we have safely. but its on the cheap side of TT.

thats a link to photos of the inside and outside.
i personaly feel its got the best of both worlds. but were all pretty proud of our choice of TT or rv's in general.
Take your time go and look at diffrent options do your research. make a list of the top things you must have 5 thinks you would like to have and then compair the list to what you look at when you go.

btw the weight you can carry in the garage is 800 lbs max, im not sure what your cycle is. but it measures 5x8 back there.

enjoy the searching, pick a good one.

There are plenty of Toy Hauler options on the market but most of them have a very utilitarian interior design. With a toy hauler you don't really have to worry about your pets tearing up the floors or the furniture as most toy haulers are designed to take some abuse. Fun Finder makes a 24ft toy hauler that could probably hold the Gold Wing and the Wave runner. Personally I like the traditional or house like interiors which is why I chose a TT with wood floors, white cabinets, and stainless steel appliances.

Thank you to everyone who has offered opinions.

We have pretty much decided to go with a TT ILO Toy Hauler for our first time out. Since the majority of trips would be weekend get aways and we would not take our motorcycle or wave runner with us, it would be just and our dogs.

Right now we are leaning toward the KZ Spree 323RLS with the laminate vinyl flooring thruout!

Susan, You will be pleased with the RL models. A web site that you can use to check out different mfgs is hereRV Mfgs We love our Crossroads Cruiser 31RL but it would depend on your 1500's engine and rear end gear. Get the TT over the TH.
