On Chicago toll roads ... you need to stop and pay for the trailer if you are using an ez pass for just the tow vehicle.

Or you could get a second ez pass for the tow vehicle/trailer.

Now the real bummer is the Chicago toll roads a few years ago no longer "counts" trailer axles and jacked the toll for all tow vehicle/trailers up to the same charge as a semi.

So, I started avoiding the Chicago toll roads ... because the cost is ridiculous .

Yes. In fact, the new technology in the Open Road Tolling lanes will automatically calculate and deduct the proper toll. You no longer need to use the cash lanes or purchase a special transponder.
