Is there any problem with cleaning the carpet in your motorhome with a carpet cleaner?

No - you might check for color fastness in an out of the way spot first but I have the same guy clean the MH who cleans the house carpets.

As long as it has good suction to pick up the water right away. The difference in campers and your home carpet is the campers don't have a foam padding underneath them so the water can get to the plywood fast and keep it damp.

Your house carpet has the foam underneath it so the water doesn't have time to soak into the wood.

You might want to use a dry cleaning type product such as Capture that is available at Lowes or Oreck stores carry their branded version. It is simple to use and it does a good job. Just did ours last week. It comes with a spray that you mist on to the rug then a damp powder material that you sprinkle on the rug and use a stiff brush to rub it into the carpet. In about 45 mins you can vacuum the dried powder up. Nice scent, clean carpets with no wetness. Also, Oreck has a coupon on their web site that offers a one day free rental for a power brush that is easy to use with this type of cleaning.

Good luck!

I've found that Capture is cheaper by 50% at Home Depot than the Oreck brand and it's the same stuff. Also if you go the dry method, a vacuuming with a roller brush vacuum and a new bag works best before you clean and a new bag when picking up the powder after you clean. Don't skimp, you do need the pre-treat spray.

Bissel Quiksteamer works great in the RV,also have foam pad under carpet-great suction leaves carpet a whole lot dryer than commercial guys that have done the house.I have been sold on them after having moms quicksteamer with us when I overflowed the tub and flooded the RV(left the kitchen faucet on)I spent a good two hours sucking all the water out of the carpet and foam pad-wow -looks like new carpet, dried same day with A/C and floor fan with no damage.Use one and you will think they should come as a standard RV/camper tool

In outfitting our "new" rig, my DW thought the carpet in the front area and the bedroom could use cleaning.
We used the Bissel Quiksteamer on it and the carpet now looks like its brand new.
We did a couple of light passes and were amazed at how dirty the extracted water was.
Dealer was supposed to have done this before delievery.
