I'm with the 60-62 crowd. That comes out to 2000 rpm which is my max torque which means almost no down shifts and makes for a relaxing drive.

Ahhh, go as fast as you can. I put the pedal to the metal until something slows me down...LOL....

Seriously, I travel the posted speed limit, if it says 65, I go 65, 55, I go 55. Especially with fuel prices they way they are these days. Hey...I'm on vacation, driving the speed limit seems to be the least stressful, I just sit back and enjoy the ride. If you get there late, what is the worst that can happen....

Good stuff everyone. Thank you.

I guess I'll start running around 60mph and see where it leads.

Out plan is to do about 300 miles on day 1 & 2 to make Santa Fe, and then drop down to about 200 miles per day of travel, with stops lingering when we find a place we like. Once we get done at the Grand Canyon, we'll probably make a beeline run back to DFW along I-40. I'm self employed, so the return date isn't critical.

If we keep the Grand Canyon run as planned we will do about 600 mile days getting there work our way back north and over to Mount Rushmore then back to KY.

You're gonna start out through some HOT country there to the GC ( and back). Got to remember what speed does to your tires. Your trailer is probably gonna be kinda heavy, so keep that all in mind.

Don't wanna be spending too much time in tire shops while on vacation.
