Hi, My wife and I have been planning a 2 yr+/- trip around the Western US. Up until recently we were looking very seriously at Class A's in the 40'+ range and towing a pick-up with our motorcycles in the back of the pick-up...However; due to the terrible real estate market {$$$}, we are reconsidering and now starting to look at toy haulers in the 40' range. We would like a mfg model that has a lot of creature comforts as we intend to be full timing for a while until we relocate. Could you share your knowledge of the available mfg and models so that we could narrow our search {there are sooooo many}. We have looked at WW, Raptors, and have a trip planned this weekend to look at the KZ Esclade. We are prepared to acquire an adequate TV as necessary. Thank you very much..

I'm trying to understand why you are changing your choice based on the real estate market? If you already have the pick-up for the motorcycles, you aren't really saving a whole lot of money starting from scratch with a new system.

If it's just the two of you, do you need a 40+ foot rig? Yes, you're planning to full-time, so you'll want as much room as possible, but you are talking about apples and oranges here.....two different rigs.

The TV for these ToyHaulers would set you back quite a bit, in addition to the price of the trailer...and I'd suspect that it would be almost as costly as the "A"...or a slightly smaller "A" that you could tow your existing truck & cycles with.

Either way, you'll want an "around town" vehicle....question is, will it be towed or towing

Sorry, more to think about.......

You definitely have some research to do...and in answer to your question; there is a 20 page sticky on the toy hauler main page that lists the toy haulers. Have fun and let us know what you decide.

Well the nicer toy haulers are 50-90 grand then a tow vehicle, We have the raptor 3612 5er which is the least expensive of what they consider "luxury" toy hauler, At least when we bought 2 yrs ago, i hear you can get some pretty awesome deals at this time for any kind of rv.
The escalade is pretty much the top of luxury for toy haulers if thats what you are going for I have found that i really wish mine wasn't as fru fru because of the way we ended up using ours more for OHV-ing in the desert instead of just campgrounds with full hookups, We thought we would do more campgrounds without dirty gear and dirt flying inside from the desert But we love the desert so thats where we take our toy hauler several times a month.
Happy shopping!

Yes, stick to your original plan. You are going to spend at least $100K for a high end TH and new truck to tow it with. There are some great 40' 2 slide DP in the 1999-2001 years for less than that, around $75-100K.

If you decide to go with a 5er toyhauler. The KZ Escalade has no competion at all for quality, fit, finish, options, etc. We are ordering ours when the 2009's are released. They are even a semi-custom built to order company. We are adding rear and left side color/audio cameras to be installed from the factory. Spend the bucks for the disk brakes if you get one. 6 of those babies will stop that 19K in a hurry.

I WOULD CONSIDER LOOKING AT THE FUZION BY KEYSTONE. FIT & FINISH ARE GREAT, AND MOST FEATURES ARE STANARD. IVE BEEN SELLING TOY HAULERS FOR A LONG TIME AND I THINK BY FAR THIS IS THE BEST ONE YET.

The Escalade is a really, really nicely appointed trailer. Probably the nicest materials and stuff of any of the TH's currently available. The one I looked at stickered above $100k. Made the $40k I spent on my Raptor seem like a real bargain!! I'm waiting for Teton Homes to make a toyhauler.

Thanks for all the replies, we really appreciate your time and input. The way I add it up is like this...240K for a 42' tag axle Allegro Bus....+ 30K for a 4X4 dingy that will us to put our motorcycles in plus towing hitches ect...Probably around $275K +/-.. The toy hauler should come in at 75-80k plus a TV of 50-60K for a total of $135K +/-. Unless there is something Im missing, that about 1/2 for the initial cost... Im thinking that this would allow us a better nights sleep with the $135K in the bank as opposed to looking at a huge depreciation factor on $275 as opposed to the depreciation on $135. In addition, the $135 might possibility buy us a stick house some where and maybe to keep the Toy Hauler rig for part time use? Any thoughts of my fuzzy logic?????
