Logic sounds good but you should really look at used either way, let someone else work out the bugs and take the depreciation hit. For instance, a friend of mine got a Country Coach (that stickered for around 350,000 in 05') last summer for $160,000 with 8,000 miles on it, quad slide, 400hp/1200ft/lbs cat, all the goodies. My toyhauler I bought 3 years ago used and would probalby only lose about $3,000 if I sold it today and I have never had any problems with it like many/most owners of new RVs of any type.

I like your new plan because your motorcycles can ride in your TH garage and be safe at night and out of the weather. I would suggest an enclosed garage so the bikes can stay indoors when you set up camp and sleep. I never liked the idea of having my tow motor and living space as one, what happens if you need repairs? You take the whole RV in and let them tear it apart while you look for a motel, if you have a trailer you take the truck in, get a rental car or use your bikes, and have "home" to go back to.

We just purchased a 2006 TH Raptor 3319, it had only been used a couple of times to go to Daytona Bike week. Excellent condition after I polished it cleaned the carpet and added a couple of flat screens this baby is brand new and iI bought it for 26900. New dodge 1 ton dually 6.7 turbo cummings w auto 6spd allison and jakebrake for 50000 I could have got that for less also but I was in a pinch since I picked up the 5r with a vehicle that was supposed to be able to tow it which I ended up replacing while on the road because it wouldn't but thats another story. If you go with the 5r and you want lux get the right TV the 1st time, just my 2 cents. I also have a 14X14 screen room which I put up and put the bikes in it's a little pricey but has sides you can put down and keep the bikes in the bikes in there during inclement weather. It will stay put with 50MPH winds. So far we love it I used to tow a camper behind the bike but am getting a bit old for that lol. What ever decision you make do what will make you happy and keep the pocket book somewhat in tact

I'd like to know more about that screen room... is it a Keystone item or made by somebody else? Also any input on TV's is appreciated too. I'm about to order a new 32" flatscreen. I bought a nice swivel mount-arm that I will mount to the wall above the front door.
BTW, Dodge doesn't use Allison transmissions. The tranny in that truck is Dodge's own 68RFE 6sp auto. GM uses the Allison in their trucks.

Dodge uses the Asian Allison in the 08 2500 and larger trucks. If the OP is staying on blacktop, a medium duty hauler may be the answer. A quality used one can be bought for much less than a new 3500 series pickup. More power, better ride and braking capacities.

RobG, sorry bud but I do have an Allison 6spd it's an 08 3500 6.7.
The screen room is by Eureka and it's a Eureka Northern Breeze but I was mistaken it is 12X12 not 14x14 but still awsome. you can find rhem at www.vtarmynavy/eureka_screen_houses. $319. plus shipping easy to put up 1 person can do it.
The flat screen I purchased 2 21" Sanyo's with the surround sound its great. Hope that helped

I'm interested to know how you got the Allison in a 3500 Dodge. I was also under the impression GM had an exclusive agreement for use in light duty trucks. Very interesting...

Yeah I don't wanna start an off-topic argument, but Dodge in no way uses any Allison transmissions. The 4500 and 5500 series use the Aisin brand (japanese) 6sp automatic, but the 2500/3500 with the Cummins use the Dodge 68RFE. Take a visit over to TurboDieselRegister.com or DieselTruckResource.com and you can confirm this.
The automatic used on the older 5.9L Cummins is the older 48RE, which I had on my 2003 RAM 3500. My current truck, however, uses the Mercedes-supplied G56 6sp manual.
My dream truck is going to be a 2012 (4th gen) RAM 5500 quad cab, 4x4, super-long-frame (84" cab-to-axle measurement) with a 10' flatbed. Still dunno if I'd do the Aisin auto or get another 6sp. My current truck is making 420 hp (with a Smarty tuner module) and I know the automatics generally can't take that much extra power.
Meanwhile... I like that screen room. Found it at Amazon.com for $236. What I want, though, is the one that extends the back of the trailer. I've see it in the catalog... you drop the back door and level it with jackstands or something, and the room basically covers the back door (making it more floorspace). All I have right now is the drop-down screen that came with the trailer.
