I'm just checking to be sure I have the least expensive option.
We're going to be camping in Banff and Jasper for a total of 3 weeks in August. Of course, we'll be in the national parks and hiking in Banff and Jasper as well as Yoho (maybe pop over to Glacier).
Is the Parks Canada National Pass the pass we need --- the season pass? It appears they are $67.70 apiece (we're not yet 'senior').
Also, if that is the case, is there a way to send for these? It doesn't look like it, from the Parcs Canada website. It looks like I have to purchase these, in person, when I get to the park.
Thanks....

You are correct, if you are staying in the parks more than 6 days it is cheaper to get an annual pass.
I beleive that the seniors rate only applys to Canadians, but I could be wrong.
You can order an annual pass on the 'phone see
www.pc.gc.ca/pn-np/ab/banff/visit/visit23_E.asp
Enjoy your trip.

You do only need one of them per vehicle. I wasn't sure what you meant by "apiece".

Each person is required to have a pass............ C$67.70 X ? = ?......... May be cheaper for you to purchase a group pass if you are accompanied by the children. Also look at getting the pass that will allow admittance to the 27 National Parks & 78 Sites. For my wife and I, it is cheaper to get 2 senior Discovery than one family. Alan, 'apiece' means 'each'

You can purchase an individual pass for $67.70 apiece, or a Family/Group pass which includes up to 7 people for $136.40. So if you are just 2 people traveling, it is a wash but if you have other friends or family along, the Group pass is a better buy.

Thanks for all responses. Yes, there are 2 of us so I see that the group pass is a 'wash'. Thanks for link Canadafan -- I missed that option to purchase by phone in advance.

Not necessarily so. If you check the following page Mountain Park fees you will see that they do not specify any 2 adult limitation, just 7 people per vehicle. Family/Group: Up to seven people arriving at a national park in a single vehicle or visiting a national historic site together. I phoned Parks Canada to check on this and they confirmed that the 2 adult limit is NOT used in most of the western mountain parks, including Banff, Jasper, Yoho, and Kootenay. Several others do have the 2 adult limitation, including Elk Island, Glacier, Waterton, and Pacific Rim, but Parks Canada rep said it is NOT strictly enforced.
Very confusing, to say the least, but I have never heard of anyone being questioned about more than 2 adults traveling on a Group Pass in over 40 years of traveling through these parks.

We will be out east in June & July, we will buy the Family/Group pass and see if they let us all in. We will have 3 adults in Newfoundland and 4 adults in Nova Scotia.
Only in Canada, I wish I was bilingual. Maybe then I could understand all Parks Canada rules.

I trust you're watching The ICEBERG finder site
All reports I'm hearing are saying they're out east this year! The townies are bellyachin' like crazy about their temps vs. our temps out west here.
& I, I took the road less travelled by.
