Wrong again. It is Legal in some states, Illegal in most.
Here is a chart Of the laws for each state. Some states like Ca allow it only if the front trailer is a 5th wheel.
I am always amazed with the amount of misinformation you can find on this forum. The guy links publication showing double towing allowed and comments it otherwise.
DMV.CA The section 7 in this handbook covers double and triple trailer towing. It is commercial endorsement, but apply to all vehicles. Note in another section says that triple towing is illegal in CA but is covered because other states allow it.
Sorry, Kaj, but you are wrong. That handbook relates to Tractor trailers where the front trailer is, essentially, like a 5th wheel. It is attached by a pin over the rear axles, like a 5er. In Ca you can tow a second trailer behind a 5th wheel but not behind a bumper pull trailer.
Even the handbook states they cover triple towing even though it is illegal in CA because it is focusing on safety tips.
I do agree about the misinformation comment though. You must have overlooked the footnote relating to CA double trailer towing. I did not contradict anything.

Hi: It is not illegal in Oklahoma either. We go by overall length as to what you can tow. It is a very bad idea in my opinion in that it could upset your hitch weight and cause sway. It is also true that most trailer bumpers if not all are not strong enough to handle it over the long haul. Bill

It's also legal in Ky. We tow our 23' boat and a jet ski behind that, but nothing behind the trailer. Luckily, we have all three in storage about a mile away from the lake at which we camp.

Again, I don't know why it would be illegal in any state as long as your not over length. Seen a guy with a 5'er pulling his boat once. Talked to him a little, and he said you don't back it. He plans his trips very carefully, and makes sure where he's going he can pull up and unhook the boat, go park the 5'er, and then go back and put the boat where ever. Sounded pretty much like a pain in the butt.

Why not check with your state's dept of transportation to see if you can pull a travel trailer and a boat trailer and/or if there are restrictions to length, etc. I thought this question came up before and it was pretty much against the law.

Try a boat loader instead; I'm planning on picking up a "heavy duty loader". Loads boats automatically up to 600lbs in weight & 16ft long. Comes with 3000lb winch. Way safer! Through the trailer in the box if it's short enough. My trailer (with a hinged tongue) will fit in a long box.

It's legal in AR up to 65' but I'm a little over. As far as disrupting the tongue weight on the TT, I don't think a small boat will put that much weight on the bumper of the TT to make a difference, at least my 17' ski boat doesn't. I don't know it's back there. I bought a 3K # hitch that bolts to the bumper then I reinforced it by welding it to the frame of the TT. My bumper is also welded to the frame.

I called the Colorado DMV, Colorado State Patrol, and the Colorado Port of Entry authority. I asked them if I could tow two ball mounted trailers....They all said "of course, people do it all the time!" I have been doing this for 2 years with no hassle. There is just an overall length limit and I can't remember it because I am not even close to going over it.
