Well it sure is for my cats, Walter. But that's a different topic...

Ah, spring... how do we know when it has finally arrived? Well, when you find yourself putting Petro-malt on your breakfast cereal, spring is sprung!

The only nature application that I can vouch for is putting apple cider vinegar in their water DOES keep the flys off them in summer time.

I switched from Frontline that seemed to stop working for us to Advantix. I applied as directed but was concerned when I saw my GSD had been licking the application sites on her back the next day. Besides eating a little grass she has not showed any adverse effects. Does Dr. Doug have an opinion on this behavior? Should we not use a topical type treatment? Or maybe just put it on her shoulders not down her back as directed?

The most common reaction I see is the irritation at the application site, still infrequent. Whether or not to use it depends on how severe the licking and irritation and the risks your dogs lifestyle may expose her to ticks. Personally, I'd trade a day or two of minor irritation if Megan was running through the hills of Georgia . If she has potential of licking it, I'd avoid putting it where she could get to it.

Thank you all for your replies. And, thank you Doug for answering our questions. I think we have probably run this one out. Moderator, would you please close. Thanks again!

Hi Cheryl!
I'm sorry you feel that way.... there is good information & conversation being shared here. There is no debating (or arguing), perhaps differing opinions but everyone is just talking..... and wandering a bit off topic but that happens on many threads. So it makes me curious as to why you would request it closed?
How is Ginger doing now? I hope she is feeling good and completely recovered.

Ginger is doing better, but not well yet. We go back to the vet today for a follow up.
The thread doesn't have to be closed. I just figured it had run its course. If you guys want it left open, I'm fine with that.
Doug, please consider my request withdrawn.
