Just checking to see where you folks are heading for the holiday.

We have a small camper (16' Scamp) but, based on past experiences, most of the accessible rustic and dispersed spots we prefer will be filled by mid-day on Friday. Since neither of us can take off early, we're pulling out the backpacking gear and heading over to Portsmouth Island (Cape Lookout National Seashore - NC Outer Banks) for three days of tenting on the beach. Hoping its too early in the season for the mosquitos and greenheads to be much of a problem.

Wishing all you other campers a safe and enjoyable holiday and would like to hear of your plans as well.

On Sunday, May 26, we'll be heading home after spending 8 days in Arkansas' Petit Jean State Park. Memorial Day will be spent unloading and cleaning the trailer.

We wish all safe travels if you're going to be on the road.

This weekend is my oldest DD's B-day sleepover. I have the choice of staying home with a bunch of giggling teenage girls, or heading up to the mountains. Guess which one I'm choosing. We ordered a new tent and other camping stuff that should be here this week. I'm gonna try it out this weekend.

Next weekend (Memorial Day) DW and I are going to see Iron Maiden at Irvine Meadows (or whatever they call it now). Camping on Big holidays is a not something I enjoy. Actually, the camping is fine. It's traffic I don't care for.

Looked at calendar. Oops. Maiden is the following weekend. Memorial Day we'll probably just kick it around the house.
