Afternoon everyone,

The Starcraft Manual advises lubing the lifting system for the Centennial 3606, but does not say where or how.

Has anyone here worked on a 20005 Starcraft pop up lift system that has some pointers?

Thanks in advance

Randy

I would check with your dealer, but I'd suggest a "dry" lube. They are made by several companies. The dry lube sprays on and drys, and leaves a dry, non dirt attracting lubricant. Check the Starcraft web site for a link for questions, or where to direct your question.

There are six lube points.
Under the trailer there is a flat, metal housing. On the tongue end, the grease fitting is on the bottom, on the rear it's on top so you'll need a grease gun with a flexible hose to reach that zerk.
At each lift post there is a small hole in the cable housing where it bends upward. You'll need an adapter of sort to lube these points. (I used a needle meant to lube cables on motorcycles.)

Hope this helps,
Wright

Thanks for the replies guys. I've got some dry Teflon type lube for the collapsible corner posts (just need to use a piece of cardboard when spraying so it stays off the tenting.

The cable underneath posed a problem cause it is a tight fit and I have trouble focusing on stuff right in front of my nose...I'll take a flashlight and give it a good look. Just bought a new grease gun for the hubs (love those ez lube hubs Starcraft uses)and I know it does not have any type of needle adaptor,so off to HD on the way home from work.

Regards

Hello all,

(Not so) Sorry to ressurrect an old dead thread, but I remembered seeing this post a while back and did a search to find it, as I'm in the midst of this very action this week. I have a 2005 Starcraft 11RT.

I finally bought a good grease-gun, (Actually a few months ago, but just getting around to doing this!) and some high quality grease for it, and plan on lubing the lift system and the wheel bearings before our big road trip next week.

I was under the trailer yesterday, and located the main grease zerks whilst cleaning up under there, so I'm pretty sure how to follow the directions posted above on that. (Except that the hose adaptor I purchased doesn't fit!)

My question: How much grease do I need? Do I pump until it comes out of that tube somewhere? (Like with the EZ-Lube wheel hubs?) If so, that seems like an awful lot of grease could be held in there? (More than the 1 tube I bought, anyway...)

Also, what is this "needle" spoken of above, and where is that inserted?

Additionally, should I lube the winch that cranks the cable? And with what type of lube? What about the pully at the back of the trailer?

Any guidance would be appreciated!

Thanks.

Well, went to the storage yard today and tried to lube the lift system. I pumped a whole bunch of grease into the 2 zerks on the lifter cable "tube" that runs down the center underneath the trailer. Never could get any of the old grease to come out anywhere...I hope I used enough?

I found the "needle" at my local Kragan auto, and located the lube points near the four lifter posts, but could not figure out how to insert the needle into those spots to lube in there?

Does anyone have a link to some diagrams/directions for this procedure? Got Pics? I'm a grease-gun newbie...
