We took this route last Sunday in a 36 5'er. About 23 miles South of the junction with HWY 120 there is a sign advising against vehicles with a combined length of 30 feet using the road. Having been there done that, I wouldn't do it again! The road surface is good, but very steep and loaded with sharp curves. Speed limits on that stretch average 15 mph. If you take it be forewarned. It will be a real white knuckle and E-Ticket ride!

You found out that you should have believed that sign. You were way over the length. I am glad you made it in one peice. That road is fun in a sports car.

The sign is posted 23 miles from the junction, not in Mariposa where you could actually take an alternate route. There is a similar sign just before you start the 5 mile grade on 120 up to Groveland. 120 is one of the main corridors into Yosemite. Not advised means what it sez, it doesn't mean restricted or prohibited.
