Todays journal states Coachman is trying to raise cash by selling some life insurance policies. Fleetwood has not made a profit in 5 years and is selling buildings and assets to make a bond note which is due. Winnebago also has not made a profit in 4 years.
General Electric's finance unit will no longer make RV loans. Overall
sales are off 14 percent this year.
Times really are getting tough!!!!!!!

And one reason may be all of the RVers who want to know if they can get 30% off instead of 25%, ie. more concerned about low dollar than quality materials and workmanship.

Right now me rig is just a gas storage box for me. cant fill it cant drive it, because of all that is happening with ecomony..Sorry to see them have problems but they can join the ranks with all of us who are trying to deal with the high cost of everything else...LOL

Lots of companies "don't make a profit" - I wonder what the executive compensation packages look like.

All of which means if you have an RV, keep it going as long as you can. Less production will mean higher prices in the future. Of course, we always assumed that we would keep ours until we could no longer go anymore - just on ongoing DIY project, especially now that we have an orphan!

That is interesting as I just read that Winnebago up until 07 had the best years ever and the last 10 years combined were the most profitable in the companies history. They also stated they had $100,000,000.00 in cash reserves....that is not a misprint. I wonder who is kidding who?

I believe they are borrowing against the policies CSV, not selling them, but the point is the same - they need cash!
Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away.
