Just another thought, and I might get slammed here, but IMHO the dam area is over rated. It has gotten a bit "seedy" over the years. It did appear that they seem to be making an effort to improve it a bit though.
Hi Shirley - I changed my username a while back. We enjoyed the margarita's at your beautiful home when we were there! (Renee and Tom)

Hi Renee and Tom! I had wondered if you were one and the same.

I would like to comment on "your comment" regarding the "Dam". I, also, don't think it is what I remember from years ago but everytime my Family (siblings, nieces, nephews) come to the Lake they HAVE to go to the Dam. There is just something about childhood memories I guess that draws everyone back there. You are correct in that they are cleaning it up and bringing that area back to life. There are new shops and things are changing. The "Best Fudge By A Dam Site" is still there. No matter how old you are you like to say that store name.

The "action on the water" seems to have picked up this last weekend. Lots of boats were out.

The Lake is so yucky, brown from all the flooding at Truman and so on. They keep letting water in and until they can stop that it will not be clearing up. I am hoping by next weekend it will be clearing up some. The water temp is still cool around 60 degrees but that hasn't stopped the wave runners. They are enjoying the water.

The dam has an arcade, but it just doesn't compare to Miner Mikes near the outlet mall. The Mini golf is near the mall too. I think the water park is in that area too? Shirley?

The dam also has batting cages that our kids love. They have the candy, fudge, ice cream, etc. places and many souvenir shops. As Shirley said, you just have to go there when you are in the area, and we always do.

The water park is between Osage Beach and Camdenton in Linn Creek. Not really an option by water. I agree the strip isn't what it used to be, but there are still arcades and shops and things do by walking from place to place. Miner Mike's is a great place, but a bit spendy and once again no access by water. Unless you only want to spend time on the strip, I think you're gonna have to get out and drive around, even just a little. Hwy 54 is 5 lanes now and turn signals at most major intersections, so driving around in your MH won't be as bad as you probably think.
