I would like to share a wonderful website for Accessible Trails for
Wheelers and Slow Walkers in the Pacific Northwest -
http://www.accessibletrails.com
It has lots of good information which would also apply for hikers that don't like steep or narrow hikes.
Please comment on what you think. We are always looking for trails and our favorite are the California Redwoods.
Coastal San Luis Obispo County in California has many accessible trails, mostly boardwalks: Moonstone Beach, Cloisters Wetland, Elfin Forest, wetlands area of San Simeon State Park, East-West Ranch Bluff Trail in Cambria. I saw a disabled person "hiking" on a Segway scooter on the Morro Bay Sand Spit trail in Montana de Oro State Park.
Don't forget to also look at Rails to Trails web site for good handicap trails. My wife loves to take her scooter on them. Gets her out in the back country easily.
