So how do you all clean the A/C without getting on your roof?

you dont, the cover has to come off to do it so you have to go on the roof.you can clean some and change filters from the inside, the roof portion collects a lot of dirt and leaves and bees nest sometimes.

tom_kat's right, and I'm not looking forward to going up there (it's an age thing), but when the time comes I have this bookmarked. Any other helpful links are invited.

bama

I wuldn't unless here seems to be a performance problem.

I ran my last one for eight years without even loking at it. I did have to clean the inside filter a lot though.

The condensor coil gets loaded up on the inside where you can't see it so I pull the cover and hose it out good every couple of years. Craig

The evaporator coil inside the RV in the ceiling plenumn also needs periodic cleaning.

Thanks, I was just making sure. Our a/c froze up the other night which is unusual this time of year. My son can climb up and do it.

When you say froze up, I am assuming icing up. When that happens, typically it is an airflow restriction (across coils) problem. Sounds like a good cleaning would be necessary! Good Luck!

Yes and it's caused by insufficient air flow across the inside evaporator coil, not the condensor coil out on the roof.
Usually dirt blocking the fins on the coil.
