Always towed a jeep wrangler with my gasser. Looking at DP for Fulltime (400 HP). Love my Chevy. Any thoughts on using it as toad. Heavy at 5300 pounds. Dinghy guide and Manufacturer say ok but is it practical? Thanks

400HP DP? I think that could handle a little 5300lb truck. I pull a 3200 lb car with my C. I'd like to hear what the "A" guys have to say here.

If your transfer case can be put in neutral for towing, then you should have no problem. Our Avalanche weighs in between 6000 to 6500lbs and our 300hp Cat pulls it with no problems.

Take a look at our setup and yes it is practical. Just make sure you weigh your Silverado, as GMC listed ours at 5050 curb weight and that is not even close to the 5860 it actually weighed with just a full fuel tank and nothing else. Now with the ATV and tool boxes, it scales at 6800, which the 400ISL handles fine. Great toad.

I towed a 2006 Silverado 4 door 4wd ZR71 with my Cat330 with no issues at all.

I do most of my traveling in the west where...mountains are really mountains.

I saw no change in mpg over towing the Grand Vitara that I towed before that.

Good luck

I tow my 2007 Chev Silverado 4x4 and haul a Harley Ultra Clasic on the back of it. I pull with a 400ISL and I can't even tell it is there. It towes great.
