Now this has got to be possibly my favorite upscale hamburger restaurant, where you pick-up your own cooked-to-order hamburger, and garnish your hamburger with all kinds of premium toppings, and self-serve on ice tea and soft drinks.
Fuddrucker's has made-to-order thick shakes, bottled beers on ice, and great french fries too.

Awwwwwwwww Preach. I feel sooooooooooooo sorry for you.
Fudruckers is the BEST hamburger joint. Just too expensive. I love the "pile on all the toppings you want" bar. No place ever gives me enough onions and here i can just pile them on.
Yum. Hungry now

Upscale? Good food, but it is almost on the same level as McDonald's as far as being upscale.
The place is noiser than all get out and they pack in as many tables and chairs as the fire marshall will possibly tolerate. The local place you can barely move through since the aisles are so narrow.

The one's we had here were not that way. Both were in the more trendy locations and were very roomy. I don't know why they closed.

The nice thing about them is that I can find enough veggies on the veggie bar to make myself a huge salad, plus the burgers are good too.
But our favorite is In-n-Out Burgers in Calif, AZ.

Use to love Fuddruckers, we had one close to us for along time, guessing 20 years, but several years ago it closed. A buddy was a butcher apprentice there in high school and complained about having to lift and hang the meat alone.
Do they still butcher their own meat theses days on site? You could watch them at work through a window and always thought that was cool.
A new one opened here a few years ago in the touristy area and the one time we ate there was let down, nothing like the one we had close to us. It’s just another fast food joint and would have been happier with a .99 cent double cheese burger from MD’s for the cost.

I believe the butchering area at the local Fuddrucker's was closed a number of years ago.

Ours do not butcher on site.
They do still make their own bread on site, along with the other baked goods.
Milkshakes still great and I do like their hamburgers better than most. Even if the atmosphere is a little noisy, it's better than the sterile feeling in a McD's, BK, etc. I'd compare them to the Steak and Shake's in the midwest that we like to visit when we drive through.
They are still quiet enough that we can have business lunches there.

Funny you mentioned them. We ate at the one in West Omaha just this noon. Miss the one at 72 and Dodge, hope it reopens. I've never had anything there that wasn't very good.
