We live inside the city limits, not too far from downtown and in a rather populated neighborhood. Tonight my wife called to me to come to the back screened in porch and look. There was a momma racoon and 6 little babies. My wife wanted to put some cat food out for them, but I wouldn't let her. If she started that, we would be overrun with the critters. They are cute, but still wild animals. I hope they take up residence somewhere else, or I will have to call animal control to put out traps.

They love cat food. Couple of years ago they got in my storage building where we keep the cat food. They opened the container and ate. We had to get a live trap to catch them. We ended up trapping 6 or 7 and moved them to a new location. We found one in the trap and another in the cat food.

feeding coons ?? Are you kiddin'. They are a pest and a nuisance. 'bout like feeding gators. They are one of our bigger rabies carriers. I keep a trap up by the house and transplant them somewhere else. Folks don't coon hunt anymore and they are overpopulated out here.

We live withing the city limit, but had raccoons delivering babies in our attic. One fell down old heating duct and I had to cut the wall open to get him out.
They are OK besides stealing cat food.
Skunks living behind our water heater are another story.

Relocating a pest is illegal in Ohio, so its hello Mr.22 around these parts.

My friend has a trap also. His is a Catahoula and goes by the name of Cajun. Transplanting takes on a different meaning in his case.

We're getting alot of coons in our neighborhood these days.
Were in my trash a few nights ago and made a huge mess.
Wife thinks they are too cute to shoot though, so she gets to clean up the trash next time!

We get one that visits occasionally at our back door. She sometimes has her babies. You can tell that she's used to being fed from someone's sliding glass door. She gets a dog cookie from me.
May we all have safe travels.

We have one that comes back EVERY year..........bringing the new little ones with her!!!
I stopped feeding the cats outside over 4 years ago (for that reason) and she still returns! They 'party' on our deck and occasionally use the pool as a sink to wash their grubby little paws. Heavens what a racket they make!!!!! And she LOVES to dig up my newly planted flowers!!!
The momma will stand at the patio doors and beg almost like she's been a pet or fed by humans in the past. That's where I draw the line!! They are cute from a distance but I don't want them at my house!!! Not with them being the most common critter in our area to carry rabies!!
