We are leaving W. Yellowstone this sunday and wanted to take a more interesting route home than I-15. Not looking for an adventerous route. I think we have been on that for tha past 3 weeks. (snow, snow snow and more snow ,hail rain and gail force winds).Right now we are in grizzly RV park W. Yellowstone and most of the park is still covered in snow. Thought about going the 80 to Reno then down but don't know if it is worth the extra fuel. Thanks

Might think about cutting over and going down thru Arco, old nuclear site, then Twin Falls to US 93 to Ely then toward Las Vegas. Different route some better scenery then all interstates.

You could take 20 south to Idaho Falls I-15 south to Pocatello west I-86-I-84 to Twin Falls south 93 to Wells then you have a choice west I-80 to Reno south 395 home 395 is a pretty drive and it is going to be warm this weekend through next week lows in the low 50's high in the upper 80's low 90's or at Wells continue on 93 south to I-15 and Vegas and home. Places we have stayed I-80 395 route Cowboy campground Pocatello,Anderson's Twin Falls,Double Dice Elko,Carson Valley Inn Minden,Highland RV Park Bishop,Boulder Creek Lone Pine, all clean, quite, friendly,FH parks. Have fun

Next week looks great weather wise around here--why not go the Id 33 to Arco to 93 to Vegas route? Probably is less boring than I-15. Good two lane all the way and much less traffic--go slower, save lots of fuel.

As suggested, work your way over to Reno then down CA 395. I'll be taking that route home from Cody WY later in the summer. I-15 is faster but not very attractive as you suggested. CA 395 is a classic.

Yes 395 is a very nice route and much wider than it used to be.

We are heading out to Yellowstone tomorrow via Hwy12 Utah and Hwy 20 into West Yellowstone. When we leave Yellowstone we are taking I84 across Idaho and following the Columbia River through Oregon and then down the I5

I-5 through Oregon and No.Cal is a very tough drive with all the truck traffic. I avoid it in those areas at all costs, even if it adds time and distance to my route. I do not think I would classify I-5 as interesting, especially when you get into the heat of the Sac and San Joaquin Valleys. The parts through Oregon and NoCal are relatively scenic, just the semis that make it very tough.
