When my brother passed away unexpectedly last week, he had a very detailed trust that listed everything he owned. It specified who received what.
What he didn't make arrangements for were his beloved Vizlas. They were his only children.
Unfortunately, no one in the family is capable of taking care of these two beautiful dogs so we are trying to find a family who will be willing to take both and keep them together. That may not be possible. Not only have they lost the only home they every knew, they are possibly going to lose each other.
Please make sure that arrangements are made for your beloved pets if something should happen to you.

So sorry to hear of the passing of your brother.
Here is some info that will help you and your family regarding the dogs.
Go to AKC.org look up the Vizlas National Club info. They WILL help you and place the two together in a home with people that are familiar with Vislas.
I have no family and I am going full time RV'ing, I have drawn up and contacted the people that I have designated to take care of my animals if something should happen to me on the road.
I ALSO have this same info on the visor of the MH in my ICE package so no matter where I am, I 'know' my pets will be placed with people I trust and they will be taken care of as I have requested.

So true. Ours are in our will, along with names of folks who will take them.
One other point. If you (both) die while traveling with your pet, what happens? Often, I've read, pet goes to the pound! We leave phone numbers in RV, and in our wallets, and usually with CG, to call if we are killed. Someone WILL fly out and rescue our beloved pets. It is all paid for. Hope it never happens, but if it does at least our best friends will have a chance.

Here is the contact info, Vislas are a 'very' sensitive breed, it would be a shame to have to split them up especially after just losing their owner.
The Visla club is a very dedicated close knit club and have a wonderful national network. They WILL most defintely help you out.

I'm very sorry to hear of your brothers passing. My God be with him.
I would love to be the one to take his two Vizsla's to a new home. We had two of them 12 years ago. We now have a Dobie and a Wiem. If it wasn't for these 2 we have now I'd take them on in a heartbeat.
Good Luck and hope you find them a great home.

Thank you for the info. I will pass it along to his gf. The dogs are currently in a kennel as she has a tiny condo without a yard for them.

If you have the means you can set up a Trust for your pet. I have had clients who have left their house and enough funds in a trust for their beloved pets until the pet passes away from natural causes then the house and any funds left pass to whomever the client chose before they died. You can name a particular person to take care of your animal or leave it up to your trustee to hire a caregiver for your pet. You should check your state as each state has different laws governing trusts for animals. I am a Trust Administrator so I am used to handling these types of trusts.

It always amazes me that when a loved one dies, their pet ends up in the pound. I understand that alot of people don't have the means or facilities to care for the animal, but I think it is so disrespectful to that person to take their cherished animal to the pound. The animal has no idea what's going and is grieving for their person and then shipped off to the pound. I just can't imagine. We have understandings with all our friends about our animals that we will take each other's animals and if can't, then contact a rescue group and make arrangements for them to find a good home.

It is indeed sad when someone doesn't have the arrangements made, but often times things happen quickly at a relatively young age, long before a person thinks of making arrangements. I am so sorry for the sudden passing of your brother Sharon. Once again, please accept my condolences. Thank you for being kind enough to post this caring reminder to other pet owners, even while you are grieving your recent loss.
I know you will work hard to keep the dogs together and see to it that they go to a good home. The rescue group links you've been given are a wonderful place to start. I have faith they will be very helpful to you.
