I suspect that some of it is in the dollar comparisons, the USD versus the CAD. I know that Canadian farmers are facing the same problems American farmers are, high fuel cost and rough spring weather.
Have you check the price of Peanut oil? It works well for frying.

I just talked to a person that was giving me a quote on a new roof for our house and he made his own diesel. He would go to McDonalds and they would give him the old french fry oil FREE as they would have to pay to get rid of it. Now they are charging him for it. Just shows how the times have changed.

You got it - SpoiledRotten. The news said robbers steal the grease and sell it to people who make biofuels. They don't cook with it.
