Some of it is spring water but not most and my well water is exactly what ends up in the bottled spring water here in North Florida. Our water is from the same aquifer as Ginnie Springs which has a couple of bottling plants. I just shake my head when I see local idiots paying $1 or more a bottle for exactly the same water that comes out of their tap.
Absolutely. Most campground water is from a municipal supply, which is closely controlled. The ONLY control on bottled water is the bottlers own. The could just as well scoop it right out of the toilet and sell it and hundreds would buy and drink it because they don't trust the CG water. As Barnum said. there's a thousand born every minute. What really upsets me is that I am not smart enough to get in on one of these completely legal scams.

We have owned RV's since 1984. We have always drank and cooked with the water out of the tank. We travel with full tank, just in case the locations water is nasty or the system goes out. (which happened Fri morning at a COE park we were at).
I can take a wild guess that we have probably bought less than a dozen commercial bottles of water through the years.
Hmmmmmmmmm, maybe that's why we were able to retire early.

There is probably a more technical explanation but basically that's when you "super chlorinate" the system, i.e. add a lot of chlorine - usually in the form of bleach in the RV world
