We're about to start out on a 7 week, 5400 mile trip across the US and Canada.

Does anybody have the GPS coordinates or POI file for blood banks that purchase blood?

And I wonder how often my wife, dog and I can sell blood.

It would be more convenient if gas stations just opened blood banks ... I wouldn't have to be driving around, trying to find a place to sell my blood, so that I can afford the gas.

Yeah, that would be nice.

A combo gas station, McDonald's and Blood Bank.

The wave of the future

Of course, if I eat too many double cheeseburgers off the dollar menu, the blood bank would probably refuse my blood due to high cholesterol.

Man, I can't win.

I'm joking, folks.

I'm joking.

It would be too easy to cry.

Much better to laugh.

I haven't sold my blood since I was in college ... and that was for beer money.

But then again, gas was about 25 cents a gallon back then ... I could usually find enough change in the seat cushions and ashtray to fill the tank.

Hmmm. I wonder if today's college kids have to choose between selling blood for beer money ... or gas money.

Sure glad my kids are grown and gone ... I'd really be bummed if I was still paying for all the gas they drove through.

Hummm....interesting thought blood donation for diesel! That would put a whole new twist on getting your arm stuck!

I cannot get a laugh out of this one!
I lost a good friend and employee at the age of forty to HepC.
He was a recipiant of the tainted blood purchased by the red cross in the southern US several years ago.

When anyone who can stagger through the door can trade blood for booze or whatever, the chances of problems tend to multiply.

This is in no way meant to point fingers at the OP and his tongue in cheek post.

>>organ donation for diesel

Hmmm. I suppose I have an extra kidney. Ha!

sea dog >>recipient of the tainted blood purchased

Sea dog ... I'm sorry about your friend. My wife had to receive pack red blood cell transfusions for several days before delivering each of our kids c-section.
It was in the just-pre-aids era and to this day, docs check her for various things because the blood of that era (early 70s) wasn't screened.

It probably isn't a laughing matter.

But man, with the rising cost of fuel ... I'm starting to run out of ways to afford it!

When I was in college in the 60's we got $10.00 a pint and as I remember you could donate every 8 weeks. The $10.00 was significant then too. Today the blood bank here does not pay for blood because there is too much rish in getting contaminated blood when you buy it. I still donate but today the money matters a lot less to me and I'm happy to give blood without payment.
