As a relative newbie, I know I need to park my fiver on something so the tires are not directly on the ground. What are people using for this? I tried a 2X12, but it cracked very quickly. thanks!

you can use treated planks and get some treated plywood and screw the plywood to the planks to keep them from cracking or splitting ,some use those thick plastic cutting boards,i just use reinforced treated wood planks.

Why not directly on the ground? How long a period of time?

While our TT is at home it sits on some homemade ramps. I laid some 4in cinder blocks and 2x12 planks to raise the parking position (the rear sits lower than the tounge - to the point the jack was lowered all the way).
As far as when we are camping - I really don't worry about parking on anything unless its to level the TT.

We keep our at a lake campground year around, except when we used it to travel. I had cut several treated 2x12 of various lengths to use a leverars when we pulled into a uneven site to stay to for a length of time at our destination. Keep them on the inside, side of the TV bed when on the road, and use them at the lake where thr 5th sits. Buy treatedWestern Cedar boards, the same close grain lumber used for spanning scaffold. Not cheep!!!

My 5er tires are always on the ground, unless on a levelling block at the campground.
My trailers (3 of them around my property - 5er, horse and hay trailers) are always parked and stored on dirt and I have never seen any issue with tire deterioration.

I purchased 16" x 16" x 4" concrete blocks from home depot and park my unit on them.

I agree ours sits at the lake also. 2x12 under the tires

Sorry but I got TIRED of getting out and moving the planks every few feet so my tires seem to get along just fine on the ground
