The Prius is the #1, I will say it again #1 most fuel efficient vehicle on the market today. Period. Just look it up! anywhere. I know what it does, I drive it everyday and until you do the same you have no basis for your comments. I get 51mpg on the Hwy and 53mpg in town and this is a hilly town.

Don Don, it seems unreasonable for you to require Prius ownership in order to talk about it.

And what is the average auto they got that # from??? EVERY similar sized 4 cylinder vehicle is at least 2/3 or better efficient to any Prius. And a diesel VW gets better every day fuel economy than the over hyped Prius.

NO WAY. 2/3 BETTER? NO WAY. Name me ONE NEW car that gets better mileage than the Prius? There isn't one. And speaking of "hyped" how much is MORE "hyped" than the NOT available for sale VW Diesel?? Agreed there are reports of great mileage on the VW JETTA TDI, but the car cannot be purchased new. There have been so many delays of the VW Jetta TDI, that they are going to have to rename it the VW GHOST.

artic dodge was saying many 4 cyl cars get 2/3 the mileage of prius, meaning if prius gets 51, many non hybrid 4 cyls get 34, thus questioning how prius cost only 1/3 as much to drive as these.

Let's get things into perspective:
Official EPA figures:
From here

"WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Toyota's 2008 Prius hybrid car, with its average 48 miles per gallon in city driving, and 45 mpg on the highway, is the most fuel-efficient car in the United States for the second year in a row. Following the Prius in second and third places are Honda's Civic Hybrid and Nissan's Altima Hybrid, with 40/45 and 35/33 city/highway mileage, respectively.

Those are the results of the annual Fuel Economy Guide, which is released by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Energy, in order to help consumers make better-informed decisions when shopping for new cars."

Based on these numbers I suggest the OP needs to rethink the math!!
Prius may be #1, but not by much!

and when you go to trade it in near the end of the battery life you will take a severe beating, figure that into your cost. also factor in that it is a little roller skate and instant death when run into by a "real" car, that actually has a useable back seat.

Well, interesting debate, but the question was asked whether anyone tows one. I do, and have over 10K miles towing a Prius on a dolly. It tows beautifully and at slightly less than 3,000 lbs. doesn't even feel like it is back there even though I have only an ISB.

So far Toyota has replaced 1 battery under Warranty and they have some prius cars with over 200,000 miles and NO battery issue. Also the Prius is a Mid Size car and has ample room for 5 adults.

No, the question was is anyone towing it on all 4's?

The answer is you can not.
