Hmmm, I beg to disagree with this statement. People that look on the bright side, do know what's going on. They are very aware of reality, but choose to look past the negatives and focus on the positives. I focus on the positives. The media is so full of doom and gloom, and if you focus only on that, you can become quite depressed.
Yes ma'am, I believe it. However, there might be matters of degree to consider. If you were being followed by a growling pit bull terrier, would you stop and bend over to smell the rose? If you did, and the growling pit bull terrier then exercised his right to chomp that which was most prominent in his view, would you keep on sniffing or would your focus change to that which was most salient?

Well let me give you an example. I live in a very wild fire prone area. Now I do not dwell on this very real fact, every minute every day, tho some do, I refuse to. Does that mean I've got blinders on? No, just means I'm not going to let it cripple me in my every day life. I refuse to let the media cripple me also. But I do have my eyes open, of that you can be sure.

I used to live in a house on grade in the Santa Cruz mountains on the bank of the San Lorenzo river, (fires, landslides, earthquakes and floods). By facing reality, and consulting experts, I was able to set the house up to be independent of the electrical grid, spray water all over itself for many hours with the turn of a valve, stay on the bank of the San Lorenzo during the Lomo Prieta earthquake, (suffering only two cracked window panes in a house that was mostly glass), and I poured enough cement to make it flood proof as well.
Preparing for reality is easier for some than denying it.
No doom and gloom here. I'm not in lala land either. We are driving down the happy side of the road and enjoying every minute of our adventure. We try to miss some of the pot holes and we don't exactly smile while we're filling up with diesel, but we are truly blessed to be living our dream.
