Anyone wanting "opinions" regarding the best place to live is no different than asking "opinions" of the best vehicle to own. If Charlotte is "the" place to be, I congratulate Charlotte. I happen to feel I live in the best place, as the trade off is 3ish months of slightly less than wonderful weather for 8ish months of fantastic weather AND we don't have to swat moskeeters anytime during the year, but that's just my "opinion".

Next year it will be a different list ... just to keep all magazine readers happy about their town or area.

Actually, many major areas down here are getting quite diverse. Many different nationalities and people from all over the country are moving in.Charlotte is a very nice area with a nice climate.I think more and more Americans are pulling up stakes and relocating in general.
