Just wondering if the Gas mileage you were getting changed allot when going from approx the same size TT to TH? My trip back home with new TH I only got 9.8 MPG. My previous TT I was getting about 12-13 and it was a Cherokee 28A with full slide, albeit allot lower.

Assuming the same weight and the same frontal area plus the same type of finish on the trailers there should be no change in mileage. Any of those things can make a difference but not because one is a toy hauler but because one is heavier, bigger frontal area or has more resistance due to the type of siding. Also one trip to the same location compared to an identical trip under different weather conditions , even when towing the same trailer will also make a difference. There is just nothing about the NAME toy hauler or travel trailer that would make any difference.

It is a a larger frontal area but loosing 3 MPG seems like allot. Will find out this weekend as we are taking a trip we have done a dozen times before with other trailers.

I would bet your Toy Hauler is quite a bit Heavier than your regular TT was. Toy Haulers are kind of the Pick Up Truck of the Travel Trailer world.

How was the wind?, it plays a huge factor.

TH's by nature are a lot heavier and stronger than TT's.

Guaranteed the TH is a lot heavier than your TT was.

An empty TH will be heavier than a TT. Load the toys and your going to be even heavier yet. TH's also sit higher than TT creating more wind resistance. Combine all of these and your mileage should go down...

Yup, yup and yup. Just look up the dry weight of your old and new unit. You'll know why. The wind is a HUGE consideration as well. Ask me how I know battling 70km/hr headwinds for a few hours.

I find that no matter what I tow, if it has wind resistance, I get about the same MPG. I don't think it could go much lower than it already is.

I'm with you on that one. Great truck, not so great economy.
