TH is heavier and front probably taller... thus more resistance to the wind. One time when pulling against a small head wind my MPG dropped from ~10 down to 4. So, I'm not surprised your MPG dropped as compared to your TT to the TH. TH = heavier and taller ----> less MPG

Consider the extra weight you will haul when you put your toy(s) in the trailer. We add close to and extra 1,000 lbs, with the motorcycle and gear. That can, and does, affect MPG and handling.

Yep this weekends trip got the same results. These 6 Litre Ford Diesels are terrible. Buddy has the Dodge with a bigger and higher TH and he gets alot better MPG then mine. Darn truck would never go into over drive, always reving in the high RPM. Not what I was expecting.

My TH has a 136 gallon water tank- I don't think theres a single TT that has a tank that big. TH's are heavier, no question. Most have a built in genset, withgas tank = more weight. I think TH's have heavier frames/chassis to support toy weight too, how many TT's have 10" I beam frames? TH's also have larger black and grey tanks. The increased weight of a TH could easily explain your reduced mileage. Almost all TH's have a higher profile due to the bunk bed feature in the rear that = more wind resistance.

Interesting comment about the powerstroke mileage- was wondering how they were doing. I just finished a trip to Santa Cruz, CA over the last weekend. (300+ mile round trip) I was able to tow my 8500GVW TH to Santa cruz and BACk on one tank including driving to the beach (trailer unhooked)both days with fuel to spare.
Two other family members towing big 5'ers with Duramaxs had to fill up on Saturday to make it home! Now I know that Chevy only puts a 26 gallon tank (what genius decided that??)in the Duramax's,(Dodge has 34 gallon standard) but my Cummins definitely got better mileage especially when towing.
