I am looking for campgrounds near Vail for the beginning of June does anyone know of any? I am looking for hookups if possible. I found one that is ridiculously expensive @ close to $50 per night, and the rest have no hookups. So if anyone knows of any please let me know. Thanks

I think your out of luck. The closest campgrounds will be in Leadville. There are only two with hookups. The rest are forest service so only electricity at best.

Tiger Run Resort between Frisco and Breckenridge is the only campground in Summit County with full hookups. And that will be in the $50 or higher range.

There is nothing possible going west towards Eagle that I know about.

Million dollar homes and condos are common in Vail but campgrounds are not.

Maybe I could plug into one of those million dollar homes, surely they won't notice the power draw. However the aluminum box on wheels might give me away!

You are doing a better job than most if you found a ā€œCGā€ near Vail – for Vail $50 is not ridiculous as the majority of the property is in the millions of dollar range.

The only spots we have ever found close were a little BLM site in east Vail that was usually full and had nothing with only one or two sites a Motorhome would fit and then there is a spot just past Minturn again is BLM but with a little more room – the biggest issue is NO SERVICES no water, no dump station, so it will limit the time you can stay.

We used to go to Vail in the first week of July for the Vail Lax Tournament and found it was easier to just rent a house and leave the RV home.

Sorry I had no real info to share but would love it if you could tell me where the CG you found is, as we still try to sneak up every now and then and would love to be able to stay a little longer in our RV.

Tiger Run in Breck is the closest. We used to go there but there was always something not working when we were there and always something in lack of maintenance or needing repair. We, and many others, have quit going there. Besides which they are terribly expensive. It's great to be the only show in the area!

There is a campground in Gypsum, which is west of Vail. I have not stayed there but have seen others write good comments.
