Headed to Columbia this summer to visit some friends. Looking for an RV park. Has anyone stayed around the area? Do you have any recommendations? (We have a 40ft MH.)
Looked through the Trailer Life Directory and it lists Cottonwoods RV Park as a Good Sam park. Has anyone stayed there?
Also looking to maybe spend some time at Long Branch State Park. Anyone have any recommendations on site location?
thanks in advance for any advice!

I've stayed at Cottonwoods. If you need someplace to park for the night, it is OK. It is a little ways off the Interstate, adjacent to the county fairgrounds. It is on the north side, not in Columbia, but not too far away. I wouldn't pick it as a destination, but it may be the only thing reasonably close to Columbia.

There is a state park there, I haven't been there myself but you may want to take a look at it

Finger Lakes State Park
Keep in mind that Finger Lakes state park is designed for motocross, 4 wheelers. Could be very annoying if you're not expecting it.
There is a nice little CG in New Franklin called the KATY Roundhouse which is 20 minutes away from Columbia.

CG has a restaurant done in railroad memorabilia that opens on weekends. Very good food. Other food and entertainment in Booneville 10 minutes away. Isle of Capri Casino is in Booneville if you're into that.(Good buffett at the casino!) There is an outstanding meat market (Jennings meat)in New Franklin and a Walmart in Booneville.
Very historic area with a southern flavor in architecture. The birth place of the Santa Fe trail.

I lived in Columbia for a while. Cottonwoods is fine. If you have time, check out Booneville and Franklin as mentioned in another post. Interesting places.

We stayed overnight at Cottonwoods last September. We didn't make reservations until afternoon, because we weren't sure how far we'd get that day. It was a nice clean place for overnight, but felt the sites were rather small, but worked fine for us with our 26' TT and long TV. However, we noticed a motorhome having a lot of difficulty getting out of a site. Be sure to reserve early and tell them the length of your rig.
