I am getting ready to do the bleach thing for our fresh water tank in our new toyhauler but I have a few questions....

1) how much bleach do I add (we have a 100 gallon tank)?
2) do I need to fill the tank completely up?
3) I saw where someone adds baking soda after the treatment....how much and agian do I have to fill the tank completely up
4) I have a thor vortex ...will a brita/pur faucet filter fit on my sink faucet?

Thanks everyone.....

2--Yes, you want the bleach solution in contact with every part of the system including running it through all the piping and letting it sit in contact with the piping and faucets.
3--Fully fill, drain, fully fill, drain, fully fill with some baking soda in the water to get the bleach flavor out, drain.
4--Take the aerator off the spout into your hardware store and check the threads. You'll find a fit.

I'd recommend you take the water filter out before treating the system. It'll be next to impossible to get the taste out of the filter and if it's any good, it'll filter the chlorine out of the solution so anything downstream won't be sanitized.

Don't freak out too much about the Tank: If you are using City water to fill the Fresh water tank, it has enough Chlorine in it to kill anything

I don't believe you really need to fill the tank completely with bleach and water. What we did was to fill the tank about 1/4 full with bleach/water. We drove to our first stop so that the water could slosh around in the tank. Then we ran the water though the outlets using our pump. That sanitized all pipes and faucets. We ran the water until the tank was empty. We then put in some city water and flushed it again.

We've had no problems. Generally, we are on city water run through a filter and rarely use the fresh water tank. We just wanted to be ready should the need arise.

There are only two campgrounds we are going to this year that have water hook-ups....for the most part we will be on sites with nothing but a great view of the beach or great places for dh to ride.

Thanks everyone for your advice.
