How is hwy 180 ( also called east rim road and navahopi road on google earth) that runs between hwy 89 (to page/powell from Flagstaff) and the entrance to the Grand Canyon Park....and trailer village therein!.....seems like it is fine from the air at least!

I assume you are talking about the highway that runs west from Cameron, AZ on US 89 to the south rim. It is a fine road and generally the way we approach the south rim. If you're not planning on backtracking along this road, do stop at Desert View on the way in.

And a stop at the Cameron Trading Post - great place. Fabulous Indian Fry Bread with jam for breakfast.
