Do they work or don't they?
I was hoping to get rid of the green bottles since they're not so "green" in today's day and age. I wanted to get one of these extension hoses however after reading the reviews posted at Camping World it made me think twice. Seems like the few negagive reviews were from people with the Weber Q grills. They stated they didn't get enough flow from the hoses so little or no flame. The other grills seem to be ok. I love my Baby Q so I won't be changing it for the convienence of tossing the green bottles.
What do others use or what have others experienced?

I have used mine for several years with the larger propane tank. Works fine for me......Grills great steaks !!!

Yes that will work perfectly.. I use a 20lb tank (borrow from my home BBQ) but also use LP distribution tree with my lantern on top as in the picture. but it does use This hose instead.
The Baby Q has a regulator and is designed to run on full pressure LP, direct from tank.
BTW I love my Baby Q..

Had mine hooked to the 5 gallon tank for three years never a problem we bought the rolling cart and the tank sits nicely on the bottom shelf

The only draw back with those hoses is that if you open the service valve on the cylinder too fast, the excess flow thinks there is a leak and shuts off the flow of gas to the grill. Most people get in to much of a hurry and try to lite the grill after opening the valve and the grill will not lite due to the excess flow is in lockout. I tell my customers to make sure the grills valves are in the off position, turn the cylinder valve on, and walk away for 5 to 10 minutes. Let the gas system equalize to make sure the excess flow is opened to allow full flow of gas to the grill. But other than that they (the hoses) work fine, at least mine does.

Just about all the bad reviews for the Q100 and larger grills deal with using a hose connected to the propane system on the RV not directly to a cylinder. The propane system after the regulator is low pressure and the larger Webers use high pressure (apx 13 psi) so they don't get enough pressure/flow.
The Baby Q actually runs on low pressure and has in internal regulator so you can run this grill on just about any propane source. Low pressure, high pressure, or directly from a 20 or 30 pound cylinder using a hose.

We use a 20# tank (have one dedicated to the Weber) and a hose for our Weber. We even have a tee so that we can feed the Weber and the turkey fryer/ or my buddies grill.
I agree 100% on the close the grill valve and then open the tank valve slowly. You won't get much flow if you open it too fast.

Sounds like maybe they reviewed the wrong hose? The one in my link has the Acme connector so you have to connected it directly to the cylinder. Connection to the RV would be a different hose.

Sounds like they were having problems with the excess flow preventers. Dave had it right as far as how to get the gas on. Both the Stay A While, some splitters and some LP hoses have flow restrictors in them. We use the Stay A While and I took the excess flow restrictor out.

Now there's an answer than explains a lot. Makes sense to me.. 12' hose and it shuts off after opening the valve too fast. The low flame reviews are probabaly from burning the residual fuel in the hose that got out when it was opened.
Definitely thanks for all the quick positive answers. I think I'm going to order one and give it a try. Down to my last green cylinder.
