For 1 nighters, the bars sit against the A-frame and the hitch stays on the truck. For longer stays the bars go in the bumper (I store my sewer hose in a PVC pipe under the TT) and the hitch goes in the back of the truck.

I do the sale thing, bars across the tongue, and leave the hitch on. I have never worried about them being stolen. I also have never heard about any being stolen. I do not lock it either.

i do the same thing. the receiver pin for the head has a lock on it. i'm not too worried that someone will steal the bars. they aren't made of copper.

I have never heard of them getting stolen either, however, in these economic times, we are seeing catalitic (spelling??) converters stolen and just recently, air conditioners. For the copper I suppose. I take it all off and lock in the bed of the truck.

I lock my hitch with a reese locking pin, keyed the same as the hitch lock on the tongue. I know of a guy that was breaking into condos and ripping the wiring out of the walls for the copper because the plumbing was all plastic!! LOL (btw I work in a jail and yes, he did get caught. Not the brightest bulbs)

Here's what I do with my hitch head: lock it to the trailer coupler and have the pin lock on also!

I leave mine on the tongue behind the propane tanks. The hitch I hide in a bag under the trailer. I Have a friend who had his stolen off his truck. It was parked in his driveway though.

I leave the hitch heard on the van and keep it locked if it's a weekender. If i'm there longer I remove it and lock in the back of the van. The round bars I always keep locked up in the side compartment. I have just purchased a new setup so I just might copy what Mark (the mod king)(4HPYCMPRS) has done. I picked up the reese strait-line hitch with dual cam 1200lb as I found out my Husky round bar was the wrong one only 800 lbs and I was at 890 lbs. This will be much easier to store than my current round bar setup.

You crack me up Mark.

I have NEVER seen anyone lock their hitch head to the trailer. Pretty funny but very practical.

I usually keep the hitch head on the truck on shorter trips as well as short durations between trips (2 week durations). On weekends unless it rains I keep the bars on the tongue. Other times they can go into a storage compartment or in the bed of the truck when the cover is on.

I don't think about someone taking them but it would stink for the return trip (and additional purchase) if that did occur.
