Alpenlite is made by Western. Most companies have many model names they produce.

Here's a little tidbit:

Western RV was bought by Pilgrim in 2006(?), my thinking is there was an ulterior motive on Pilgrims part when they bought Western. Western had been in business since 1971 making them one of the oldest in the industry.

In a slowing market when you buy the competition to get that piece of the market, then shut it down when things slow down, bingo you got designs, the tooling and the void to fill in that segment of the market all in place under your umbrella awaitng the turn around. Now, let's see if Pilgrim survives to realize the dream.

Keep in mind the the demise of Western put about 600 people out of work.

These closing are just getting started and are going to be a tough nut to swallow in some parts of the country. Let's hope the big guns keep picking up the pieces and put those let out back on the payrolls.

BREAKING NEWS
Entegra Plant Ramps up, Building Jayco Coach
Bob Ashley
RV Business
Tuesday, May 20, 2008

The first Class A coach to roll down the Entegra Coach Inc. production line in Wakarusa, Ind., will be a new Insignia diesel-pusher motorhome carrying the Jayco brand name.

“At this point, our plans are to have them build only this one brand for Jayco,” said Jim Jacobs, Jayco Inc. vice president of sales and marketing. “It's going to give the Jayco dealer network a product that should be right in the price segment that we want to play.”

Jayco's mid-priced Insignia with four 40- and 42-foot quad-slideout floorplans, is built on the 32,400-pound GVWR Freightliner XCR raised-rail chassis equipped with a 36-hp Cummins ISC diesel engine. Retail prices start at $230,000.

Jacobs said Entegra-branded fifth-wheels – the entry-level Emblem and high-end Alante – will begin production in early June with Class A diesel pusher Aspire, Anthem and Cornerstone nameplates to follow by August.

Middlebury, Ind.-based Jayco created the Entegra Coach subsidiary after purchasing the assets of the former Travel Supreme Corp., including materials, equipment and the 160,000-square-foot Wakarusa production facility in which Jayco Insignia and Entegra products will be built.

Glenn Troyer, former Travel Supreme president, has been appointed president of Entegra Coach. Entegra has 61 employees currently building Jayco Insignia coaches with a goal of reaching 125 workers within the first year.

The asset purchase allows Jayco to re-enter the Class A motorhome market in which it has not competed since 2003 and never has been a significant player. The fifth-wheels that Entegra will produce also represents a price-point sector in which Jayco has not participated.

Jacobs said Entegra's dealer body will be separate from Jayco's, although some Jayco dealers are expected to carry Entegras.

“Entegra will set up its own dealership network, but they will look at Jayco dealers first,” Jacobs said. “The Jayco Insignia product will not compete with anything that Entegra is building.”

Hope the 5th wheels are based off the Travel Supreme plans that Jayco got with the asset purchase.
