It may have been my imagination but driving east on three lane I-4 tonight from Orlando towards Deland, it appeared that lines of cars in the two right lanes actually bouncing along at 55-60. There were still plenty of idiots in jacked up, extended cab, long bed 4X4 V-8 pickups going 80 but I think people may be beginning to slow down.
Scary thought.

Could be, one of the biggest highway trucking companies (Bison)based in my province, recently announced their new company policy...trucks will be required to go at 100 kph (62.5 mph) rather than 105 kph (about 65 mph) to save fuel.
They have more than a 1000 highway tractors and figure they will save over a million dollars in fuel costs in a year.
Heard it on the radio today.
I'm thinking of driving at 100 kph (62.5 mph) or lower...on lightly traveled double lane highways, where those going faster, won't be held up behind me.

Not in Atlanta. 80-85 is still the speed for most of the Interstate traffic... at least when they're not doing the normal 5-10 during rush hour.

Been noticing the same on I4 in my travels between Polk and Volusia county. It seems you can drive in the right and center lanes at the limit without people going nuts lately. I don’t see any difference in what the aggressors are driving though, it’s still a mix.
My “guess” is… The idiots that drive so aggressively are the ones being hit the hardest by the costs of fuel today and they might be rethinking their habits since it’s hitting their wallets. Who knows, but I have seen a change.
Filled up my F350 today and it cost me $151.10

We returned from a west coast trip last week and I certainly didn't notice much of a slow down on I10 and then I20 heading back to the Dallas area.
Much of I-10/I20 has a speedlimit of 70mph for trucks and 80mph for everything else; and even though J usually drives the speedlimit but usually no faster than 75mph we were often passed by both cars and trucks.

I travelled 130 miles south on I-25 today, towing double, and drove slower than usual - 60 instead of 65. I got 14 mpg instead of 10 mpg! Works for me!. I did notice that overall folks were not exceeding the 75 limit like normally - just my perception, but I think folks have slowed down somewhat.

It's happening here in the SanDiego area. All up and down the I-8 today we noticed it. It's OK with me. Course the CHP was out and working too.
May we all have safe travels.

The regional gas sales data takes 60 days to roll out.
I'm real curious what Oregon's numbers are going to look like. I can't believe the difference in the rush hour commute in Portland. Traffic is WAY down, the buses and trains are jam packed.
