I have a four day weekend due to me in June. Thinking of the Dells or finding a nice quiet place in the Smokies. Never been to either. Looking for people who have been to either place and there opinion on the place along with the campground they stayed at.I have two boys age 9 and 10 and we are all very willing to try different things out. Thank you in advance for your opinions

It seems to me to be a no-brainer. Dells are exciting; Smokies are where my parents spent their honeymoon!
Have you been to Cedar Point?

Dells have lots of water activities for kids. DW and I (both over 60) even enjoyed the stay, which wasn't planned. We stayed at the KOA, top of the hill sites. Except for occasional train, we really enjoyed the park and the Dells.
Spent better part of one day driving thru and around the Smokies. Beautiful scenery and Dollywood is in the area. Very crowded driving thru Pigeon Forge, lots of pedetrians and vehicles.

My vote goes to the Smokys. Black bears, snakes, fishing, playing in waterfalls, hot dogs and marshmellows over the campfire. What more could a 9 & 10 year old want?
If you want to see what we did & lots of photos, you are more than welcome to look at our adventures archive for the dates we were in the Smokys 4/19/08-4/29/08

The Smokies are great but on a 4 day weekend it is a lot of driving for a little site seeing, I would want 5 to 7 days for that myself. Have you thought about taking the SS Badger ferry across and doing the Dells? You get the excitement of a Big Ship ride and a break from driving.

Dells in a heartbeat!
Lots to see and do - or just relax, couple campgrounds you can walk to downtown - don't have to start the car all weekend! Probably 15 to 20 campgrounds within a stone's throw of the Dells to, if you didn't want to stay in the thick of things...

Since you only have a long weekend, I'd do the Dells. Your boys will defiantely enjoy it. The Smokies are wonderful, BUT, you don't have enough time to make it worth while.

I took my daughter from Wi to Mi on the ferry. It was the highlight of our vacation Stayed at Mirror lake in the dells. I go Townsend quite a bit but I would think four days from your hit is a lot windsheild time. Your kids will enjoy the dells. Make sure you do the duck tour
Just three miles from Wisconsin Dells, sandstone bluffs surround half the lake which offers excellent fishing, swimming and canoeing. Wooded campsites, picnic areas, a boat landing, and biking, hiking and cross-country ski trails. Cabin for people with disabilities. E10320 Fern Dell Road, Baraboo 53913. (608) 254-2333).
