With boys 9 and 10, I vote for the Dells. I have been to both and, if it were me, I would do the Smokey's. But...with 2 boys, I would do the Dells. Much more for kids. Have fun.

I agree with your decision because of time. We have been to both many times. Our son also loved going to House on the the Rock. Pigeon Forge and Smokies are definitely a place you might want to consider for a longer stay. When we go, several times a year, we usually stay about a week. If you can avoid the weekends in the summer that is your best bet. There is plenty to do there for boys. Dollywood has a water park and amusement park. All kinds of go cart tracks, miniature golf etc. Just playing in the streams is fun and you can tube also.We are planning a trip to Dells in June ourselves. Haven't been there in 8 years. I am sure it has change a lot since there.
In the Dells there is a water/amusement park called Mt Olympus. It is a giagantic water park with 7 roller coasters including "Hades" which was rated top 10 in the country. This wooden rollercoaster goes 65mph under the parkinglot. Mt. Olympus also has 15 go cart tracks for all ages and sizes. And heres the best part, this year they are having a 2 day for the price of one special. Two consecetive days for $45 bucks a person. We go here every year and it is great. We've also stayed at Jellystone but make sure you ask for a site away from the highway or you will hear the trucks on 94 all night. Have fun....TAZ
The Dells is one, big, ugly, crowded, noisy, touristy, money-sucking area. But, the kids will (probably) like it unless they're really into the outdoors at an early age.

Only if you go to the big ugly crowded part...
There is a lot of natural beauty to see too!
It was featured on the travel channel the other night - WATER PARK CAPITAL of the US - 21 different water parks in 18 square miles... Always something to do!
