I'd like to know if anyone has experience towing a GMC Envoy 4WD. I'm looking at a 2004 in great condition and real low mileage. The dealer started reading the manual where it tells you how to disengage the drive train. I didn't really get it all, but it sounded a little involved. Is it really, or do you get used to it quickly? I'm used to pulling a Jeep Wrangler, where I just pull the lever into neutral and go.

Steering doesn't lock on those so your good. Just turn the transfer case knob to engage neutral, if it's manual shift, put in park, release parking brake and tow away. Pretty much the same as your jeep.
If it's electric shift you push the 2 wheel high and the 4 wheel low together for around 10 seconds, and the drivetrain is dropped in neutral automatically.
Have fun.

Thanks a bunch, it dosen't sound too complicated. It's an automatic if that makes a difference. I'm going back for another look in the morning, so maybe I'll try it while I'm there.
I've towed two Chevy Trailblazers, which are sister to your candidate Envoy and they tow well. The setup sounds complicated but after a few times is easy. My 02 required pulling two fuses which was a PITA, my 08 doesn't, so like Rollincool said it is pretty straight forward. Over the years these rigs used several different control switches for the transfer case; some had a neutral label, some didn't, some with a knob, some with buttons. My 02 and 08 have a knob without a marked neutral position, but it is there.
03 thru 05 models are pretty much the same, in 06 there were changes to the engine, and again in 07 and 08. Somewhere along the way side air bags were added. In 06 or 07 they increased the spring rates which really improved the handling from a wallow wagon to a pretty decent drive. My 08 is nite and day better than my 02. Adding Bilstein HD shocks will be money well spent.
I set up both for towing using Roadmaster brackets, a Sterling tow bar and Brakemaster brake system. PM me if you want more info on my setup.

I have a GMC Envoy 4X4 SLT all options (power / leather/air suspension) already set up to tow with the Roadmaster XL brackets.. its a 2002 with 55k miles very easy to tow (no fuse to pull) push a button put it in park lock the doors and go. It has the roadmaster round 4 wire plug for lights.
I don't use it anymore (I have an H3 and Ram 1500 I pull).. one of my kids is using it.
I would let it go for $11,000
What price are you paying?
