Which style of cargo bay is best: the one that goes all the way through (what is it called) or the bins. Is the cost worth it?

I'd guess it will depend on what you want? I've found that the "bins" as you call them, are at about 24" deep on my Winnebago, so there are things that I'm limited in stowing under there. With the full across storage, you can usually fit just about anything. That decision is yours. Cost will probably not even be a factor, as you will be looking at so many other things....if the model you want has it, then you'll get it...if it doesn't, it may not be an option anyway.

Depends on your needs. The ones that go all the way across are found on raised rail chassis on DPs. I fulltime and carry guns in long cases so I need the full width type.

I have the full slide cargo bays - two of them. Absolutely love them, glad I added the second one. Easy access.

Pass through is the only way to go especially if you have a mother in law that wants to travel with you.

We have a Coleman Roadtrip grill that would not fit in any bin type storage I've seen, not to mention the MUCH larger tailgate grill we sometimes carry! Also have 4 of the reclining chairs and two folding tables, again, bins would not hold any of these.

Full pass thru storage was a major requirement in my choice of a coach. If you just do weekends and a vacation maybe you don't need it.

Pass thru storage is nice but that requires a raised rail rear engine chassis. I have one compartment on a slide and it is very convenient.
If you want maximum storage the only option is a raised rail rear engine MH (well maybe a toy hauler but they give up living space for cargo space).
Same thing applies if you need to carry long items, I can carry an eight foot long ladder in the storage bay but I see a lot of ladders being carried on the rear of MHs and trailers. Another option that I did to a 33 Winnie; I connected two adjacent storage compartments so I could carry skis, the old long kind.

Our 32' Itasca gasser has the bins, but it has one pass through storage area in the rear. It definitely comes in handy and was a "cool" feature that helped sell us on the unit.
