Hello,

I have a very stubborn slideout in our 05 Gulfstream Ultra LE Class C. The slideout moves out quickly but it gets stuck moving back in.
I hear the rubber seals on the side popping and the slide out jerking a little bit on one side before it finally moves in. The gap between the rubber seal and the MH is bigger on one side of the slide than the other and the rubber fits really tight against the MH. It looks like the slide needs to be moved 1/4 of an inch or so to one side.

I have a few questions:

1. Can the rubber seals be lubricated and if so what do I use ?
2. The bottom of the slide has 3 plates w/ 2 bolts per plate that hold the slide and sliding mechanism together. The plates have a horizonal groove where the bolts attach that appear to be that way so the slide can be adjusted. Can I safely loosen the screws and slightly move the slideout 1/4 of an inch away from the side that is too close to the MH ?
3. What kind of lubrication can I use on the sliding mechanism ?

Thanks,

Mike

Seems like every Wal*Mart or RV store I've been in sells lube for the slides. I have a can or two and I suppose I should use it once in a while.

1. Can the rubber seals be lubricated and if so what do I use ? - One of the best lubricants to use is a Talc based powder. I.E. baby powder.

2. Can I safely loosen the screws and slightly move the slideout? - Yes they are adjustable and can be done by the owner. I wold carefully mark the location of each bolt before starting and make very small adjustments.

3. What kind of lubrication can I use on the sliding mechanism ? - Use a dry non greasy lube. Don't use anything that will attract dirt.

We once had a problem with our slide coming in. It would come in a bit and then just stop. After a second it would start up again and come all the way in. DH called the manufacturer and was told to lubricate the slide seals with silicone spray. We use a silicone spray that is put out by Yamaha (it doesn't attract dirt like WD40). DH lubricates them regularly, and we've had no trouble at all.

Wax the sides of your slideout and it will move quiet and smooth.
